Puerto Rico's El San Juan Hotel Joins Waldorf Astoria

 

Hilton Hotels Corporation announced that the El San Juan Hotel & Casino in Puerto Rico will join The Waldorf Astoria Collection as the second Waldorf Astoria Collection resort in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. This newest addition solidifies Hilton’s continued commitment to expand its luxury and lifestyle brands into key markets worldwide. Set on one of Puerto Rico’s most picturesque beaches in the Isla Verde district five minutes from the international airport, the El San Juan Hotel & Casino, The Waldorf Astoria Collection has long been considered one of the Caribbean’s leading hotel and casino properties. The hotel joins the Waldorf Astoria Collection following a $52 million renovation completed in 2007. The hotel features 382 guest rooms and meeting spaces designed by Robert Barry of Barry Design, and a pool and beachside experience -- Encanto Beach Club, by architect Stephane Dupoux.


El San Juan Hotel & Casino, The Waldorf Astoria Collection features 35,000 square feet of versatile event space, including 14 meeting rooms and unique outdoor spaces. The hotel boasts a selection of executive boardrooms ideal for smaller receptions and business meetings, while the Banyan Tree, Panorama and Encanto Beach provide spectacular outdoor settings. All meeting spaces offer high-speed Internet access as well as a full service business center. Additional amenities at El San Juan Hotel & Casino, The Waldorf Astoria Collection include children’s activities, rooftop fitness center, and La Galeria, an air-conditioned shopping arcade.


In addition to The El San Juan Hotel & Casino, the Waldorf Astoria Collection also includes 12 other properties -- seven in the United States, comprising of the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Ariz.; Grand Wailea Resort Hotel & Spa in Maui, Hawaii; the Casa Marina Resort & Beach Club, the Naples Grande Beach Resort and The Reach Resort, Florida; La Quinta Resort & Club in Southern California; the El Conquistador Resort & Golden Door Spa in Puerto Rico and the recently added The Boulders Resort, Arizona. Internationally, the Waldorf Astoria Collection includes the 46-suite Qasr Al Sharq or “Palace of the Orient” in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; the Rome Cavalieri; the Trianon Palace in Versailles, and The Bentley in London.


The company is also developing Waldorf Astoria hotels and residences in key cities around the world and next year expects to launch The Waldorf Astoria Orlando in Florida, Dakota Mountain Lodge in Park City (Utah) and The Bentley Waldorf Astoria Collection in London, as well as The Palace Jerusalem, Israel; The Waldorf Astoria Sarasota in Florida; and the proposed The Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills in California, which are scheduled to open in 2010.
