Norwegian Epic to Offer Blue Man Group Show

Norwegian Cruise Line said it is changing the face of cruise line entertainment on its next-generation Freestyle Cruising ship, the 4,200-passenger Norwegian Epic, by introducing performances by Blue Man Group in the ship’s 685-seat Epic Theater. Blue Man Group is known for its theatrical shows and concerts combining music, comedy and multimedia theatrics. The show will debut next July when Norwegian Epic sails on its first revenue cruise. “With Norwegian Epic we are reinventing cruise ship entertainment by offering multiple entertainment options for any taste and any age,” said Kevin Sheehan, NCL’s CEO. “Having a world-class creative organization like Blue Man Group headline the entertainment on Norwegian Epic will provide our guests with a sensory experience unlike any other at sea.” Another live show in the Epic theater will be announced later this year
Norwegian Epic also will have other specially designed entertainment venues throughout the ship so guests can choose from a wide variety of entertainment every night. In a 265-seat Spiegel Tent, Norwegian Epic guests will be able to dine and experience an interactive theatrical dining experienced featuring jugglers, aerialists and other entertainers. The two-hour dinner show, Cirque Dreams and Dinner, is being staged by the Cirque Dreams entertainment group.
Headliners Comedy Club, a 280-seat comedy club will feature improvisational comedy skits from Second City. The venue’s design centers on a show lounge format with a small raised stage, concrete floors and brick walls with a full bar. At Fat Cats, guests can listen to jazz and blues in a 200-seat club. The venue will feature nightly live blues and jazz performances by world-class talent.
At Epic Casino, guests can enjoy 340 slot machines and other table games at a 13,000-square-foot casino inspired by a Monte Carlo design theme. The casino is located above Taste, the atrium restaurant, and below Bar Central. It also features Cascades Bar with a grand central crystal chandelier.
Norwegian Epic’s inaugural sailings are now open for sale with cruise fares starting at $699 per person. The first Eastern Caribbean itinerary sails from Miami on July 17, 2010. The ship will alternate Western and Eastern Caribbean itineraries. For more information on the new entertainment options, visit http://epic.ncl.com/the-latest/webcasts.
